Downpour on a Summer Day

Flapping wings against the wind,

Or resting on a high pole pinned;

The flustered feathers

Or tired wings tether

Far from the nest, all rest away;

Downpour on a summer day!

……….

All the glasses start to gleam

Like in a lazy daytime dream,

The rain begins to leave its mark

The roads then turn all black and dark;

Strong winds blow, and clouds grey,

Downpour on a summer day!

……….

Rain with mud, strong scent is spread,

Bringing an end to sweaty dread;

Trees all washed, a lofty treat

To eyes done with enduring heat;

The cooling drizzle and soft spray,

Downpour on a summer day!

……….

Happy eyes and excited yells,

A timeless tale and story tells

How rain lets the fondness to sprout,

The hopping and jumping about

With laughter and ecstatic play,

Downpour on a summer day!
